Plane Crash Hits Close to Xanga Office!
by Anne US Airways Flight 1549 carrying 151 passengers on board crashed into the Hudson River about 5 minutes after take off at 3:26pm from La Guardia Airport in New York City very close to our office.
The cause of the crash appears to be a horrible accident due to a flock of birds and is not terror-related.
When the plane went down into the cold waters of the Hudson River, the weather outside was about 20 degrees, but felt less with cold wind chills. Boats nearby instantly sprang into action and police and fire crews arrived on the scene worked frantically to send divers into the water to rescue the 146 passengers and 5 crew members.
Some passengers have been seriously injured, but it has been confirmed that they were able to retrieve everyone out of the waters. Thank goodness! At this moment, rescuers are working on bringing the passengers to dry land and warmed up to prevent hypothermia.
Our hearts go out to the passengers and a big appreciation to the rescuers and their quick response!

I was reading the news article about it on another site and I am glad to see that got everyone to safety.
I had no idea a flock of birds could damage a plane like that! I'm sooo grateful the pilot, crew and passengers are all ok. It would have been an entirely different story if that plane crashed on land. =O Thank goodness for quick thinking and fast acting rescuers!
these must have been terrorist birds! nice try you evil avians!
fuck birds.
I just got a text message about this, whewwww glad everyone was ok!
I love to fly, but man it's scary when you hear about mishaps like this, birds? Dam!
I actually just finished watching this story on three news channels (its at 5:30 p.m. Thursday right now) and my family and I were horrified at the sight. We couldn`t believe that birds were to blame for this! We`re so glad everyone was okay.
So glad this was not near the tragedy it could have been, glad the boats were there for them!
thank goodness the nypc squad and fire department were there in time to save the people. omg..i would be so pissed off if i died due to flock of damn seagulls. -.-
A flock of birds? Seriously?
I heard about this too! Thank God they all made it! To think of what could have been is too scary for words.
What probably happened was during take off, they probably ran into a flock of seagulls. We wont know until the official report is out but since this happened 5 minutes after, that was probably it. There's usually no birds up at the maximum of which a plane flies.

I was sitting at work when I read the article on CNN earlier today. It's a miracle that everyone survived. God was watching over them.
it was a double bird strike so they got both engines. I give major props to that pilot. He did an awesome job. God was definitely watching over that plane!
