"Best Job in the World"
Guest post submitted by BLOOMnLUNAtic

Australia has recently offered what is considered "the best job in the world". They are paying an individual 150,000 Australian dollars (105,000 US dollars) to inhabit an Australian island for six months. The lucky applicant is going to stay in a rent-free three-bedroom beach home complete with plunge pool and golf buggy. The only requirements are that they must be a good swimmer, excellent communicator and be able to speak and write English.
Applications are open until February 22nd. You can find out more information and apply here or at www.islandreefjob.com.
If you applied and got the job, would you ever want to leave the island after your six months were u p or would you be dying to get home?

Funny. I just read about this on LAist. It seems amazing to be able to do something like that. Snorkel among the Great Barrier Reef, soaking up the suns in Australia, enjoying the outdoors for 6 months and get paid for it. I would do it in a heartbeat.
I'd do this if my husband gets to come along with me. I'd be real lonely. We'd probably want to leave though... too much relaxation if that's possible... haha. And we'd wanna go see the rest of the world.
I think this rules me straight out of the job not a good swimmer, poor communicator and speak and write good English not the best in the world.
There has to be some sort of catch, right? RIGHT?
Knowing myself and my travels to Asia (from US) - I get homesick after a few weeks. Still I think I could manage a 6-month stay in this island, but only if my husband could come with me.
there has to be a catch...
nothing is ever as good as it sounds
wow i've always wanted to go diving in australia ever since i learned to scuba... would love this job but i think it's unlikely i could get it ;P
Oh Australia's beaches are one of THE best in the world!
Plus Hamilton Island??? Damn!
The only thing is, the time the joba ctually starts is in July, when it's really winter in teh Southern Hemisphere, so I reckon it'll be a lil off season then.
No I would want to stay forever
Okay, I'm ready to apply, but what's the catch? It's too good to be true.
I guess devil_undercover found out the catch! It'll be winter in Australia.
I would NOT want to be on a island! Apparently i couldn't do it anyway. Can't swim. But who would want to? There are soooo many deadly creatures in Australia's ocean waters.
I knew the swimming thing would kick me in the behind some day.
